Thursday April 2 left Charleston, SC. The first leg of the flight was great until we hit the DFW area and had to
circle a holding pattern for over 45 minutes. Finally we got to land. The winds that day were over fifty MPH.
At one point, they had to shut the airport down. My connecting flight to Phoenix was delayed until 5 pm
which meant I missed my white knuckle flight to Show Low. Some friends droved over 4 hours to Phoenix to
pick me up and we didn't get back to St Johns until 2 am. Peter says I will own a cellphone by the time I fly
home in May. Ah adventures in the White Mountains of the high deserts!

This is a dried riverbed called a wash, where lots of locals go with their ATVs. This is probably one of the
lowest elevations and we are at 5,686 plus feet above sea level. The local population is only 3,538 and
everyone knows your name. Later we had an outside fire.
