February is Dental Health Month for Dogs
Hello to all my brothers and sisters out there!

Take it from a guy like me! I have advanced stages of periodontal disease and NOT by choice.
It's almost like having a tooth ache forever. This disease is irreversible. Giving me chew bones
and toys is simply not enough. Brushing those teeth daily certainly does help. Professional teeth
cleaning while under anesthesia is recommended once a year and best when in combination of
another associated surgery.

Once this disese progress below the gumline and into the bone, there's no stopping it. Smelly
breath, bleeding gums and tooth lost, I have. The bacteria from this could get into the blood
stream, results of other illnesses and yes my friends, death! I do take an antibiotic on a monthly
bases called
Antirobe for 5 days just to keep the bad bacteria in check.

If I had the chance to do it all over again things might of been different for me. A recent Gallup
Poll said it's no wonder dogs have bad breath. Only 22% of the dogs ever had their
teethbrushed, of that only 20% on a daily bases. Not surprising that many of us have halitosis
and our families' and friends maybe less excepting our kisses. It does have to be that way. We
need our teeth cleaned too!

Sometimes called stinky breath,
